Lyrics

Written by David Bowie It's a God awful small affair To the girl with the mousey hair, But her mummy is yelling, "No!" And her daddy has told her to go, But her friend is no where to be seen. Now she walks through her sunken dream To the seats with the clearest view And she's hooked to the silver screen, But the film is sadd'ning bore For she's lived it ten times or more. She could spit in the eyes of fools As they ask her to focus on Sailors Fighting in the dance hall. Oh man! Look at those cavemen go. It's the freakiest show. Take a look at the lawman Beating up the wrong guy. Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know He's in the best selling show. Is there life on Mars? It's on America's tortured brow That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow. Now the workers have struck for fame 'Cause Lennon's on sale again. See the mice in their million hordes From Ibeza to the Norfolk Broads. Rule Britannia is out of bounds To my mother, my dog, and clowns, But the film is a sadd'ning bore 'Cause I wrote it ten times or more. It's about to be writ again As I ask you to focus on Sailors Fighting in the dance hall. Oh man! Look at those cavemen go. It's the freakiest show. Take a look at the lawman Beating up the wrong guy. Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know He's in the best selling show. Is there life on Mars?

Story

This is the first collaboration with Adrian Bryant. He and I went to school together years ago and reconnected a few months ago. This song went through some pretty severe changes before we decided to go with the "less is more concept". I think it works pretty well. I brought the song to him to cover and he was very receptive. We both find it necessary to step outside the box when it comes to musical ideas, so our collaboration was very harmonious.

Lyrics

Written by Chris Difford and Glenn Tillbrook Originally performed by Squeeze I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste A flannel for my face Pyjamas, a hairbrush New shoes and a case I said to my reflection Lets get out of this place Past the church and the steeple The laundry on the hill Billboards and the buildings Memories of it still Keep calling and calling But forget it all I know I will Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered Whats been going on Now that you have gone Theres no other Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered Im at the car park, the airport The baggage carousel The people keep on crowding Im wishing I was well I said its no occasion Its no story I could tell At my bedside empty pocket A foot without a sock Your body gets much closer I fumble for the clock Alarmed by the seduction I wish that it would stop I bought a novel, some perfume A fortune all for you But its not my conscience That hates to be untrue I asked of my reflection Tell me what is there to do

Story

My first lyrical collaboration with a vocalist. We hooked up a year ago and this was our first project. I released it online when we finished it back then, so this isn't necessarily a "new" release, but it worked so well in the framework of this project that I re-released it. Kelly is an AMAZING singer songwriter from England. Currently, she lives in NYC. She's constantly performing around town, so check her out if you can. Check her out on her myspace page at www.myspace.com/kellywaters.

Lyrics

Sometimes I breathe with ease Sometimes I just wanna lie down Sometimes I laugh not cry Sometimes I'm sinking into my frown Oh sometimes my love turns to ash Of my many thoughts I will not be rash Then you You lay down beside me and ooh, you're deep enough inside me and Oh, I love you You are my first fight, my first love, my first light All of this nighttime You're taking in and shaking in a life now I think this is our time I'm looking straight into the fight now And I feel alive You make me feel alive And now I'm coming down now And you You lay down beside me and ooh, you're deep enough inside me and Oh, I love you You are my first fight, my first love, my first light Although your gone I'll never forget you All through it all You'll live with me too We'll find our love living in perfection And I'll always remember, always remember you When you lay down beside me Ooh, deep enough inside me and Oh, I love you You are my first light, first love, first light

Story

NIN has been putting out multi-tracks for remixing for about a year now. Ever since NIN started doing that, I've been "practicing" on how to work with vocals. Coming from my previous work, the challenge for me was to learn how to incorporate vocals into my music. I had to learn to use vocals as an instrument and weave them into the fabric of the music, rather than layering vocals on top of a bed of music. Not that there's anything wrong with layering, it's just feels more organic for my work to do it the other way. Anyway, here's me and Trent. Tell him I said "hi".

Story

This was a collaboration that was originally planned to be with Stuart Wolferman of Imaginary Johnny. He got busy with his "Painting Over the Dirt" album, and I invited Adrian Bryant to see what he could do with this song. This version is NOT the version that I had planned for "The Science". I was frankly bored with the version that we had worked on. It was so...procedural. This is more my style...

Lyrics

I can't get to sleep I think about the implications Of diving in too deep And possibly the complications Especially at night I worry over situations I know I'll be alright Perhaps it's just imagination Day after day it reappears Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear Ghosts appear and fade away Alone between the sheets Only brings exasperation It's time to walk the streets Smell the desperation At least there's pretty lights And though there's little variation It nullifies the night from overkill Day after day it reappears Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear Ghosts appear and fade away Come back another day I can't get to sleep I think about the implications Of diving in too deep And possibly the complications Especially at night I worry over situations I know I'll be alright It's just overkill Day after day it reappears Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear Ghosts appear and fade away Ghosts appear and fade away Ghosts appear and fade away
